
New Brno festival libre: – humanities, books and people around them are important! Inspiring and entertaining. Come!
organized by: RE:CENT Center for Medieval Visual Cultures and Research Communication at the Faculty of Arts, MUNI – a place of joint dialogue between scholars, students, and the public and publisher of the journal re:vize, issues of which will be available on site.
for whom: the public – as they say – the general public, children, adults, students, curious people, café loungers, flaneurs, avid debaters, silver, gold and every other generation, history fans, open minds. We welcome everyone from anywhere, even Prague residents can come.
Festival libre: it’s multi-genre – offering quality books to buy and browse, physical immersion in the space under the Central Library, great drinks, remarkable debates, music, theatre, and film premieres.
venue: the courtyard of the Faculty of Arts on Arne Novak Street in Brno
time: Friday 16 May from 16:00 to 20:00, and Saturday 17 May 2025 from 10:00 to 21:00

Friday, May 16

▪️ 16:30 Book presentation: Myths about Notre-Dame: Gothic, Imperialism, and Nation. Authors: Ivan Foletti, Adrien Palladino (reading room, café kaFFe – MUNI)
▪️ 17:00 Guided tour of the Central Library Depository, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University – capacity 20 people, registration required via the registration form (meeting point in front of the library)
▪️ 18:00 Avokaduo – live concert blending folk and jazz (courtyard)

▪️ 14:00 The Meaning of the Humanities: roundtable discussion – Denisa Nečasová, Monika Brenišínová, Pavel Pospěch, and Martin Wihoda (reading room / kaFFe – Building D)
▪️ 14:00 Mikroteatro: theater play Bring the Book to Life – an event around the children’s book “Ďolík” (courtyard)
▪️ 16:00 Tingl Tangl – concert by a six-member band performing songs from the Semafor Theatre (courtyard)
▪️ 19:00 Premiere of the film The Real Middle Ages: Many Faces of the French Town of Conques
